The Streak lives till 2008

The streak just keeps going. We are now up to 9 wins in a row. Bringing our total to 10-2 as we go into the Holiday break. This week we battled the strongest of the Willows teams and pulled out a 3-2 victory.

Dan and Bob pulled out a time based win on court one. Pulling out the one game victory at the digital click of 12:30. Then Chad and Mike cruised in their win, giving up just 2 games. And way over on court 4 Don and Tony lost the first set, got mad and Won the next two.

As an early Xmas present I can't remember who lost this week or what happened.

We have a few weeks off now with our next match not coming till 2008. Not a bad way to end the year with a 9 match win streak. Now all we have to do is keep the streak alive till 09.

Cedardale Express

The Train keeps chugging along, even though the engine and caboose lost. This week we bumped our win streak up to 8 matches. It was a close one though, as we pulled it out 3-2.

We lost on the end courts this week. Adam(sleepy) and Courtney(Hung-over) over on court one, lost a close one by games to the former Cedardale Pro Igor. Then down on 5 Mickey and George had to go to a match tiebreaker to lose. Failing to take advantage of a couple of breaks in the final set.

The Wins came in the middle. where all the good stuff in the freight cars are. Court two saw Dan and Bob win in straights(we won't count the middle set this week). And then over on 3 Todd and Andy also won in straights. And Guess what... Chad and Mike on court 3 also had a straight set win.

Now we only have one match left in 2007! It's a Home match against the top Willows team. So lets see if we can close out the year with 9 in a row!!

The Streak is a Record!

This week the Turkey Coma did not affect us. We managed to pull out a Win against the Traveling Westford team and extend our Win streak to a Whopping 7 Matches. As far as I know this is a new record.(I don't know that much though). Hopefully with our remaining 2 matches of 2007 we can continue our win streak into next year.

This Week we won 4 to 1 and pushed our season record to 8-2. Not to shabby so far. Our one defeat this week was due to the cruel hand of time as Courtney and Andy lost by games. Needing only a few more minutes to get into a third set tie break.(4-6,6-3,5-5)

Now onto the Wins! On a noisy court 2(not from the blowers but from their opponents). Evan and Bob B#1 played a relaxed first set before settling into business and taking the match.(5-7,6-2,3-2) Next to them Bob B#2 and Todd won a fairly routine match in straights.(6-2,6-4) In position 4 Don and Chad had a close first set winning it in a breaker and then rolling in the second to take it.(7-6,6-1) Way down on court 5 Mickey and George avenged their loss of two weeks ago with a 3 set victory.(6-2,3-6,6-3)

With only 2 more matches left in the Year. We are playing an Away and Home series against a couple of tricky Willows teams. I'm gonna be looking to put out some strong lineups for the next couple of weeks to give us some breathing room going into the Long 2nd half of the season. Hopefully we can continue our ascent up the leader board.

Turkey Time

Let's see how do you stop a hot streak? Well I hope it's not by putting in a bye week because of Thanksgiving. Because we are Hot. This weeks win makes it 6 team wins in a row. We took 4 out of 5 matches this week playing against Lexington. (Ah didn't it say Willows in last weeks post?)

Our one loss this week came way down on a noisy court 5. Where Mickey and George just ran outta time. With a few more clicks on the clock they could've pulled out the third set for the win.(6-3,6-7,3-2)

The Wins this week with the exception of court one were quick. Court one decided to make it interesting with Paul and Courtney again allowing the match to come down to Courtneys last service game with no time on the clock. Which he held to take the win by games.(4-6,6-2,4-5)

Court 2 saw the undefeated team of Tony and Don beat up on their opponents winning in straights.(6-2,6-3) Next to them on court 3 the also undefeated team of Mike and Chad crushed their competition with stinging volleys and high powered groundstrokes.(6-3,6-1) Over on 4 The other undefeated team of Gary and Todd breezed through the first and third sets to take the win.(6-1,4-6,6-1)

Next week you are free to shop and Eat.. Then it's back to the grind for 3 more weeks. Where we will be playing that Willows team I was talking about last week.

Cedardale is Closer

It was a long drive but it was worth it. We came away with the win and improved our win streak to 5 matches. Chad also re-upped some contracts for next years 4.0 season so it was a good week.

Court 3 saw a tough match with Paul and Dean just not able to get the tough games losing in straights (6-3,6-4).

That was the Highlight for Winchester. So Andy S, if your reading look away now.. it's gonna get ugly.

Now onto the wins! Over on court 5, Don and Tony playing a little lower than usual smoked the competition 6-3,6-0. On court 4 Chad and Mike both picked up their first win of the season defeating fellow 4.0 teammate Wayne S. With a scary second set.(6-2,7-6) Court 2 Saw Andy and Todd pull out a close, flip a coin match, (6-4,7-6) With Andy doing all the hard work. In the Number 1 position Dan and Courtney took no Mercy on Fellow Cedardale member and 4.0 teammate Andy S. Allowing the winchester team few chances in a(6-2,6-1) win.

Good Luck to Dan and Dean, They will be playing in the National mixed this weekend in sunny Orlando. Bring home a Gold Ball!

Next week we play one of the Top Willows teams at home. So be ready we don't want to lose this streak.

Future Team Member

Congratulations to Adam and Jessica on their New Son Alexander. We all hope that they are doing well and look forward to seeing them both on the courts soon. Now Adam has no excuse for sleeping late since we know that he won't be sleeping at all. Alexander will be our newest team member in just 18 short years. Unless of course he's on tour.

Triple Fault

We have run our win streak up to 4 weeks now. This could be a record. Although this weeks win was pretty easy considering that Winchester decided to pay us back for our defaults from a few years ago. Winchester must have been flooded, because only 2 teams showed up.

So on Court one Dan and Bob had no trouble winning.(6-3,6-3) And over on Court 2 Paul and Courtney decided to make up for the ease in which court 1 won. They proceeded to lose the first set, squeak the second set out in a tie breaker, and being down what amounted to 3 match points in the third. Pulled out the WIN. (3-6,7-6,3-0) Luckily for them, it would've sucked to have been the only team to lose. ;-)

This gives us 25 points, which is what the 4th place team had last week. Also I have linked the Leagues Homepage with standings and schedules over in the links section.( to your right)

Now onto next weeks match. We are playing the other half of our 4.0 team. Seems some of our 4.0 teammates like playing way down in Winchester. Let's try to convince them that Cedardale is closer!

10/29/2007

3 in a row

Ok I'm a little late getting you our scores for the week. But I have a good excuse. The Ban on Coors has now been lifted. The Sox tapped the Rockies 4 straight and the Pats are 8-0. Woo Hoo. Ok now onto the important news.

We took 5 points this week. Beating the slumping Bass River team 4-1. Narrowly missing a sweep by the hand of time. On court one Courtney and Paul had the only straight set victory. Starting off slow they picked it up and won.(6-4,6-1). Court 2 saw 4.0 teammates Bob and Andy start off a little out of sync, but they quickly regrouped for the (2-6,6-3,6-1) victory. On the court furthest from the audience (3) Don and Tony had a slight let down in the second set. But bounced back and took the third by a break.(6-2,2-6,6-4). Way over on court 5, George made his debut this year in grand fashion. partnering up with Todd they took another win for the team in 3 sets. outlasting their opponents in the third. (7-5,3-6,6-1)

Court 4 saw our only defeat this week. Mickey and Dean(ed: still on Vegas time) Lost a close one in three not quite finished sets. Needing only a couple of more minutes to close out the third, the buzzer sounded for the loss.(6-7,6-2,3-5).

Next week we play Winchester at home. Let's keep the streak going!!

Freaky Saturday.

What a weird week. I'm 0 for 2 setting up tennis this week. With Gary missing the practice on Tuesday and then George getting the Mike Mackay* award this week, it's a miracle we pulled out a win.

Oh yeah we Won this week.. This puts our season high winning streak at two. We won this week 3-2. It gives us 14 points for the season out of a possible 30. So point wise we are below .500.
Court one saw the First victory of the season for Adam and Courtney. They outplayed their opponents at the net and took a 6-4,6-4 straight setter. On Court number dos Paul and Todd won a tight 6-7,6-4,2-1 match. Paul is still alive despite Todd's 20mph serves and the bruise Todd received from Pauls return is healing fine. Our 3rd win came from the Money Team of Mickey and Dean who just refuse to lose winning in straights for the first time this year 6-3,7-5. ( Guys your gonna move up).

Our one loss this week came on court 3 where Tony and Mike ran into the energizer bunny. No matter how many winners they hit the ball kept coming back till they lost.(6-4,6-4). We had a default on court 4 due to some bad captaining. Like I said it was a weird week..

Next week we are in Bass River for an Away match of Epic proportions... See they have this new thing in Bass river called shot spot!! So no complaining about calls. Hopefully it measures ball speed because I would love to see 100mph. Not from my serve of course, but my return.

*last year in the first match of the season against Northeast Mike went to Northeast instead of Cedardale.

It's a Win

Ok I'm a little sleepy after staying up till basically 2am watching the Red Sox give the game away by putting in the (c)loser Gagne. So I'll keep this Short. And skip posting the Scores ;-)

What a great week the team had. We pulled out a 3-2 victory over the strongest Winchester Team. We also managed to get 4 points. That's a full 2/3 of the points that we had accumulated in the prior 3 matches combined.

Teams 3,4, and 5 won it for us this week. Over on court 3, Paul and Courtney rolled to the 3 set victory after giving up the first set. Courts 4 and 5 saw both matches come down to time. Don and Tony split the first two sets and then ran up a 3-0 lead in the third to take it on games. Over on 5 Dean and Mickey again lost the 2nd set(this time a lot closer than in the past). Then ran up a 5-2 lead in the third before the Bell rang and they had to settle for the win.

At court 1 Dan and Bob played a close two sets. Facing match points in the 2nd set tiebreaker Bob held and forced a third set. The only problem was that their was no time left and they ended up losing by one game. On court 2 Andy and Todd lost bad... How Bad?? So bad that Todd's rating now has a minus sign in front of it.

Next week we are at Northeast. A couple of our teammates are in California to play there Nationals. Good Luck Dan and Bob B. Don't forget "Out in Front"

10/06/2007

Bagels anyone.

This was not one of our better weeks. Firstly it was absolutely beautiful out today. Secondly we had to go all the way to Manchester to play indoors. And third we got the snot beat out of us.

Manchester brought out their a-team members for a little warm up before their season. On court one Dan and Bob lost a close one 6-2,6-0. It looked like it might go Dan and Bob's way until Dan hit a perfect volley in the first game. Which caught the attention of Nick Bolletari who complemented Dan on his fine volley. After Dan shook his hand and had a brief discussion He didn't put another ball in the court.

On court two Courtney and Paul almost pulled out a win. Taking the first set in a tie break they lost the second set and were tied in the third when they ran out of time. Losing by one game..(6-7,6-4,2-2). ON Three Todd and Tony lost in straights 6-4,6-4 letting a winnable match get away from them. And way over on 4 Dean and Mickey finished 3 identical sets to lose a huge hitting match 6-2,2-6,6-2

Court 5 saw the Team of no-one and no-body lose 0 and 0

Hopefully next week we can win a match.. arrrgggghhhh

9/30/2007

Bookended

Here we go. We started our first win streak of the season. We Beat the top Willows team 3-2 and now are on our way to first!! I Can't find this weeks score sheet.(shocker) so no scores this week.

Heading up the wins this week was Dan and Bob on court 2. They got the win when one of their opponents had to retire early in the second, but would've won regardless. On 3 Todd and Andy pulled out a 3 setter and On 4 Don and Tony keep their unbeaten streak going, winning in straights.

The two losses came at the top and bottom. Court one saw a tired Adam and Courtney lose in straight sets. Chad and Mickey over on 5 lost by two games. Trailing early in the third they ran out of time before they could make a comeback.

Next up is Manchester. We have had a lot of fun over there in our last two usta seasons. Remember it's Manchester MA.

Keep the Streak alive

9/23/2007

25 to go

Well week one didn't officially go as planned. We lost a close one 3-2 this week. The top teams had problems and the bottom two bailed us out.

On Court 4 Don and Tony straight setted their opponents to take an easy 6-2, 6-4 win. Over on court 5 Mickey and Dean cruised in the first, took the second off, and won it easy in the third in the only match that went 3 sets (6-3,1-6,6-2)

Now onto the bad news. Courts 1 and 2 saw some quick defeats playing against former A team members. Bob and Mike were bested 6-1,6-2 and mirroring them on court 2, Paul and Courtney lost 6-2,6-1. In the swing match Todd and Chad choked out a lead in the first and set points in the second to snatch a loss from victory. 6-4,7-6

Next week its the Willows at home. Get em!!!

9/18/2007

Holy Crap Batman!! 26 Matches

Ok no problem if you don't play the first week or the second week. Because there are 26 of em this season. The first one is this saturday against Newburyport. If you don't remember they swept us in the final week last year. I know we had a default, and injuries.. But no whining because this year we have all that minus a default. This time let us do the sweeping..

Chad bring the broom..

9/06/2007

New Season Coming up!!

Get Ready. Season 2.0 is coming up soon.

This year we are going to be stronger, faster, better.

ahh. what?..

oops got us confused with the new bionic woman tv show..

We are going to be something this year.. I'll let you know in late April what we were.

4/07/2007

It's Over.. Bring on the Usta

Ok no one wants to hear what happened today!! Let's just say that the only match we won didn't count. Newburyport broke out the broom and swept us outta there.

Oh well there is always next season. Just like the red sox we faded in the last month. So next year we will be spending a lot more on players, and our new player development program should help us out. Plus I hear that we are going to be playing on Blue courts.. How can we lose on blue courts!!

Thanks to everyone who played and filled in this season. Out of 110 matches we only had 2 defaults!! We will probably finish in 6th or 7th now. But just 4 weeks ago we were close to a playoff spot, before injuries and vacations took their toll. Hopefully next year we can improve upon our record.

The final percentages are up and once I set the minimum number of matches played to qualify for the title I will let you all know. (I'm leaning to 21 personally).

Don't forget if you need someone to play call me!!! You get a 59.% chance of winning with me. See you all on the Links.

4/03/2007

Almost Over.

This week we were really short on people and still managed to pull out 2 matches. Luckily for me we only have one more week left. Ok I burned this weeks score sheet in order to end our losing streak.

But a quick recap...

On one, Todd and Evan Mailed one in and lost in straights. Over on court 2 Don and Tony were out lobbed, lossing also in straights. Court 3 saw Gary and Dimitri win a great match coming down to the last game. and on court 4 Dean and Mike pulled out a 3 setter, keeping Deans unbeaten streak alive.. We dropped court 5 in straights.

Ok on to our last match!! Saturday in Newburyport. Let's get one last win!!

3/24/2007

2 Weeks to Go.

Well we haven't started our end of the season win streak yet. But we still have two chances left to get it going.

On to this weeks matches.. We lost 3-2 this week. On court one Evan and Tim, (making his debut this season) had a tough one losing by just two games 6-4,6-7,1-0. They had 2 break points in the last game to force a tiebreak for the match but didn't convert.

ON 2 Dan and Mike picked up a win cruising in the first set and then letting it get interesting in the second. Taking a second set tie break for the victory.(6-2,7-6)

ON 3 Andy and Todd picked up a win cruising in the first set and then letting it get interesting in the second. Taking a second set tie break for the victory.(6-1,7-6) -- deja-vu one better

Court 4 saw Tony and Don get a split set loss. With Don showing up a little late, it left no time for anymore games after the second set.(6-7,6-3) -- Bad Don, Bad ;-)

On 5, Paul and Gary just couldn't get any rhythm going. Playing together for the first time just didn't help. My fault. They lost in straights. (6-2,6-4)

Well with only 2 more weeks to go it's almost over. Not so bad, We have slipped into 6th place but I think that we'll pop back up into 5th by the end.

Also for an A1 Team outing at the end of the season A Golf outing has been suggested. I'm horrible at booking and organizing something like this but.. If we can figure something out,, Burgers and Beers at my house after the Golf. Plus I think we could take some of Adams' money on the course!!

3/11/2007

aaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!

Well this week didn't go as well as I had hoped. Everyone played great with the exception of one. We lost 3-2 and probably put ourselves out of a playoff spot. But the good news is that we can save some money and not have to travel to play in late April.

On court One Adam and Evan rolled over an outmatched team. Over on Court 2 Dan and Bob were having some problems, untill their oppenents decided to hook em a couple of times. Then they picked it up and took em out.

After those positions it went down hill. In three Todd and Mike could only convert on 1 of 14 break points in the second set to lose a fustrating and winnable match in two sets(6-4,7-5),not to mention a racket..aaaarrrgggghhh.

On 4 Chad and Don had a tough one, with Don playing with an injured ankle they weren't able to get ontop of their oppenents losing by a break a set also.(6-4,6-4).
And on 5 Gary and Mickey ran outta time and lost by just one game.

Oh well 5th place isn't that bad.. who am I kidding it sucks!! ;-)

3/04/2007

We need more Time!

Ouch!! Sorry for the late update to the site but man it's taken a while to get over our loss.. This was actually a good week for us. NONE of our teams actually were beat in sets. We lost 4 outta 5 matches because of the clock.

The match of the Week/Year though had to be Dan and Bobs tough loss. Bob injured himself early in the third set, and was barely able to continue. Bob showed incredible toughness hanging in there when he easily could of retired. With Dan covering most of the court. It was a gutsy third set that saw it come down to one point after the buzzer for the match. (4-6,6-2,5-5)

On courts 1,2,4&5 the same story played out. Everyone ran outta time while behind in games. I think they speeded up the clock.. Evan and Bob lost by a game. Mike E and Don lost by 3 games and Chad and Mickey lost by 2 games. In all 4 of our losses the matches were into the third sets. If this was the playoffs we would've had the time to finish the matches and beat em like we did in the first half.

Our one win was on court 3, Todd and Andy won in straights.

Well we're not out of the Hunt for a playoff spot yet. But With only 4 matches left we need every match to have a chance. Next week we have a home match against the #1 team. They beat us 4-1 in the first half and I'd like to get some revenge.

2/20/2007

Cool Video

Ok I know this isn't tennis... But It's way cool and kinda geeky...but definately way better than the movie light saber fights!!!

2/17/2007

Only 5 more Matches!

With only 5 more matches left in the season, we are closing in on 4th place. This week we were able to score 5 more points. With a Win over the lowly Willows gold team 4-1. That gives us 19 out of a possible 24 points in our last 4 matches.

On Court 1, Evan teaming up with Bob B won a close one. It came down to a game, and They pulled it out.6-3,3-6,4-3. Over on a noisy court 2 Adam and Bob took out old cedardale pro Igor and his partner. After losing the first set Bob took charge and carried Adam to the win. ;-) 3-6,6-0,6-4.

Over on 3, Todd and Tony won quickly and easily 6-2,6-2. Also over on 5 Chad and Don took a little longer but won just as easily. 6-3,6-4. Court 4 saw our only loss this week. Mickey and Mike had a tough matchup playing against a couple of young guns who just banged from the backcourt. unfortunately they ran out of time before they could make a run at em in the third. 6-3,6-7,5-1

I believe we play 3 out of the 4 teams above us in the next 5 weeks. So Be ready We can Do this!!

2/12/2007

4 Points Behind 4th

Ok were only 4 points back with 6 matches to go!!

Let's keep it going.

2/11/2007

5 points Again!

We had a great road trip. For the second week in a row we were able to win 4-1.

Our one loss this week came unexpectedly in 1st position where Dan and Bob just couldn't get over a one break deficit in the third set losing 4-6,6-4,6-4.

Positions 2 thru 4 picked up the slack and won some pretty funny matches. Adam picking up from where he left off friday night. Combined with Evan to roll to a 6-1,6-1 win in 2nd position.

In third Todd and Andy won the slowest match ever 7-5,6-7. Their opponents wasting up to a minute plus between points talking, didn't have the time left to catch up.

Over on 4 Mike and Mickey compiled enough games before the clock ran out to win. 6-7,6-1,3-4.

And on 5 I have no idea what happened except that Don and Gary won. Somehow they played a final decision point. Which you usually only play in usta leagues. But they won so I'm not complaining, but it sure is funny though.

These 5 points are going to help us in our climb up to 4th. Now we just need to have another big win on Saturday against the Willows gold team to really give ourselves a shot at 4th. Once the standings come out on Monday I'll update this page to let everyone know where we stand.

5 points

This week we were able to pull out a 4-1 home Victory.

Do I even need to say it? Bob and Dan won again on court 1. These guys are money in the bank. after dropping the first set they raised the level and won.2-6,6-2,6-4.

Over on court 2 Evan and Andy had a "who can hit the hardest contest" with the winner being our team as they straight setted their opponents winning a tough 4-4 tiebreak in the second set.7-5,7-6

On Court 3 Mickey and Chad had their win streak broken falling in straights to a very net hungry team. They just couldn't find a way to own the net losing (6-3,6-3)

Way down on court 4, Gary and Todd had two very competitive sets. Fighting off 2 set points in the second set to take the match 7-5,7-5. Winchester gave us a default on court 5.

So we have a bye week to relax and recuperate. 5 points this week helped us close in on 4th position. Only 7 more matches to go!

1/21/2007

Push

We finally got our first win of 2007! Playing with a depleted team and calling up some reservists we kept our playoff hopes alive. It was a close one winning 3-2. But we'll take it.

Positions 1,4,&5 pulled out the match. On court one Bob and Dan rebounded from their loss from last week to cruise to an easy 6-3,6-4 win. Court 5 saw the Thursday Contract group of Mike and Paul R. hold on and win by games with a tight 3rd set.(3-6,6-0,5-5) Continuing his unbeaten streak this year Dean partnering with Gary(first win of season) also won by games.Just two though.(6-7,7-5,1-0)

Over on 2 & 3 Both teams lost 3 setters. Todd and Paul M. on 2 had opportunities to close it out in the 2nd but didn't get em,losing.6-3,5-7,3-6
Don and Mickey started out strong but couldn't keep up the momentum losing.6-7,6-3,6-2

With only 8 more matches left this year we are still statistically in the playoff hunt. Right now we are in 7th place 8 points behind 4th place. Once I get the updated stats I'll give you an update. Next week we have a home match against a lower ranked team.. Be Ready!!! The Push is on.

1/15/2007

Go Pats!

Wow the Patriots had an incredible win. What a Game!!! Never bet against Brady. Now if we can only get him to play on Saturday in Winchester.

Ok So this weekend didn't go so well for our team. We lost 3-2 and went under .500 again.

Positions 3&4 pulled out easy wins. Double A (Adam&Andy) won 6-2,6-3 with Adam kicking his racket over the net out of joy. On 4 Mickey&Chad continued their win streak by laying waste to their opponents 6-0,6-3.

On 1 Bob&Dan forgot to show up for the third set losing 6-2,3-6,6-0. Over on 2 Evan&Todd Lost by games even though Evan hit the sickest return evar! 6-4,4-6,4-2. On court 5 Gary&Don also lost by games. They just didn't get the early lead they needed in the 3rd. 6-7,6-4,3-0

Next week we are in Winchester @12:30. We are going to need every point we can get. Plus players, alot of people are outta town.

1/07/2007

One Better.

Ok so our first match of the new year didn't work out as well as we had hoped. But we did gain 1 point from our first week with a 3-2 loss.

Positions 2 and 5 kept us in the playoff hunt with straight set wins. Dan and Bob Playing in 2, revenged their loss in week one.(7-5,6-3) Chad and Mickey on 5 came through to get our second point.(7-5,6-4).

Adam and Evan on court 1 had a bad day falling 7-5,6-4. But not as bad as over on court 3 where Todd and Andy playing in their worst form ever.EVER! Got bagel'd in the second set.(6-4,6-0) And on court 4 Paul and Don ran into a tough team.(6-3,6-3)

Next week we are up against a full Bass River team. We beat their 2nd tier team 4-1 last time and really need to beat their 1st tier team 4-1 this time also.

Announcement: Dan has once again taken the percentage lead. Damn! ;-)

Team percentages
